Our Pastor
Jim Larsen became our pastor in 2000. He is fully human, including bumps in the road. He can speak of redemption and renewal from experience. He has a record of lengthy ministries and sinking his roots in the communities where he has served. In his twenties Jim was listed in Outstanding Young Men Of America. In his thirties it was Men Of Achievement. More recently he was selected to appear in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers as a part-time instructor at Northwest Christian College in Eugene, Oregon.
Over the years Jim has been invited to present workshops and seminars on prayer, preaching, communications and other topics related to ministry. He has served as the president of a mission organization in South America and has done short term mission work there and in the Middle East.
Jim would say his greatest assets are his wife, Karen, three grown children, a capable staff of Elders and fellow servant Brad, the church office manager. He would be quick to add that the most significant change in his ministry came as a result of working with David Bruce, webmaster of www.hollywoodjesus.com. David transforms Jim’s sermon outlines into PowerPoint presentations for Sunday use and for distribution (free of charge) on the internet at www.outsidethewalls.com . His former model of 20 minutes of singing followed by a 40 minute sermon has given way to an integrated service with the sermon dispersed throughout 75 minutes…braided into the communion service, offering, prayer, etc.
Our pastor’s education covers many years and a small collection of earned degrees but Jim would say, with the Apostle Paul…it doesn’t mean much compared to knowing Jesus Christ as Lord.
